Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
Overview
LibriSync is an open-source audiobook manager developed by Henning Berge. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is used. LibriSync is designed with privacy in mind — your data stays on your device.
Data That Stays on Your Device
All data processed by LibriSync is stored locally on your device. This includes:
- Audible account credentials — OAuth tokens used to authenticate with Audible are stored in your device's private app storage. They are never transmitted to any server other than Amazon/Audible.
- Library metadata — book titles, authors, series information, and cover art URLs synced from your Audible account are stored in a local SQLite database.
- Downloaded audiobooks — audio files are saved to a directory you choose on your device.
- App settings — preferences such as download directory, sync frequency, and naming patterns are stored locally.
Network Communication
LibriSync communicates with the following services:
- Amazon/Audible APIs — to authenticate your account, sync your library, and download your purchased audiobooks. Only your Audible credentials and standard API requests are sent.
- LibriVox API — to browse and download free public domain audiobooks. No authentication or personal data is sent.
- GitHub API — to check for app updates (GitHub release builds only). No personal data is sent.
LibriSync does not communicate with any other servers. There is no analytics, tracking, advertising, or telemetry of any kind.
Data We Do Not Collect
LibriSync does not collect, transmit, or store:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavior data
- Crash reports
- Location data
We have no servers, no databases, and no backend infrastructure. The app is fully client-side.
Third-Party Services
LibriSync interacts with Amazon/Audible and LibriVox as described above. These services have their own privacy policies:
Permissions
LibriSync requests the following Android permissions:
- Notifications — to show download progress and completion notifications.
- Foreground Service — to keep downloads running when the app is in the background.
- Internet — to communicate with Audible, LibriVox, and GitHub as described above.
- Storage Access — to save downloaded audiobooks to your chosen directory via the Android Storage Access Framework.
Children's Privacy
LibriSync is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
Open Source
LibriSync is open source. You can inspect the complete source code to verify these privacy practices at github.com/Promises/LibriSync.
